Permanent Jubilee (Perpetual Jubilee) granted by Pope John Paul II in 1998—one of only five cities worldwide with this privilege. Special year with Holy Door opened at Santuario de la Vera Cruz (True Cross relic). Special pilgrimages year-round, but June is peak with major processions on June 3 (local fiesta) and June 28-29 (Sts. Peter and Paul). Plenary indulgence for pilgrims who pass through Holy Door and fulfill conditions
