Murcia's major festival in honor of patron saint Virgen de la Fuensanta. Key events: "Romeria de la Fuensanta" (pilgrimage from Murcia Cathedral to Santuario de la Fuensanta in mountains—8km walk), "Bando de la Huerta" (The Orchard Parade) on Tuesday after second Sunday—Murcianos in traditional huertano costume (colored shirts, waistcoats, neckerchiefs, sombrero huertano) parade on floats decorated with vegetables (Murcia's Huerta region produces lettuce, artichokes, lemons, oranges), "Entierro de la Sardina" (Burial of the Sardine) on final night—symbolic burial of sardine (effigy) representing end of festival, similar to Murcia's Spring Festival (but smaller scale)
