Celebration of St. Martin of Tours (San Martín de Tours). In Peñafiel (Ribera del Duero wine region): "Feria del Vino" (Wine Fair) coinciding with "Día del Estreno" (Opening Day) of new wine season—tasting of vino joven (young wine aged <6 months, not yet barrique-aged) directly from fermentation tanks at Peñafiel Castle (Castillo de Peñafiel—home to Museo Provincial del Vino). Also: "Toro de San Martín" (bull run) in Plaza del Coso (Plaza de Toros de Peñafiel—triangle-shaped bullring unique in Spain built 1820s). Traditional saying "A todo cerdo le llega su San Martín" ("Every pig has its San Martín")—November 11 was traditional pig slaughter day (matanza) before winter
