One of Spain's largest festivals (named for Virgen del Pilar, patron saint of Zaragoza and of all Hispanidad). Key events: Ofrenda de Flores (Flower Offering) on October 12—thousands of people in regional costumes (from all 17 autonomous communities and many from Latin America) process to Plaza del Pilar carrying flowers that form 15-metre-high cape of Virgin (massive mosaic); Ofrenda de Frutos (Fruit Offering) on October 13—similar but with fruits, vegetables, breads forming mosaic; Gigantes y Cabezudos (giants and big-heads parade) daily; Pregón (opening speech) October 4 from City Hall balcony; Rosario de Cristal (Crystal Rosary) on October 12 night—procession of glass lanterns (500+ crystal lamps) through streets; Fuegos Artificiales (fireworks) on October 12 night over Ebro River; concerts, bullfights at Plaza de Toros de Zaragoza (Plaza de la Misericordia), ferris wheel at Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta
