Catalan pre-All Saints' Day tradition (not Halloween originally, though Halloween is now celebrated alongside it). Traditions: Eating castanyes (roasted chestnuts—castañas asadas) sold by street vendors (castanyeres) in traditional peasant dress (bandana, brown skirt/apron); panellets (small marzipan balls with pine nuts); moniatos (roasted sweet potatoes); drinking moscatell (Muscatel sweet wine) or cava. Children sing "La Castanyada" song ("Per Tots Sants, castanyes torrades, per Tots Sants, panellets..."). Originally pre-Christian harvest festival celebrating autumn nuts and fruits
