Political demonstrations: massive Catalan flag (estelada) displays; floral offerings to monument of Rafael Casanova (Catalan military leader from 1714 siege) on Ronda Sant Pere; "Via Catalana" human chains (recreated some years). Cultural events: sardana dancing (traditional Catalan circle dance) in Plaça Sant Jaume, castells (human towers) at Plaça Sant Jaume, concerts. Not a party festival (subdued, political)—different from other Spanish fiestas
