World's largest tomato fight; around 20,000 participants (limited capacity—must purchase ticket via La Tomatina official website); 150 tons of tomatoes thrown from trucks; lasts exactly one hour (11am-12pm). Preceded by: Palo Jabón (greased pole with ham at top—participants climb to retrieve ham, when ham falls, tomato fight starts). After: Buñol river used for washing off. Tickets sell out 6+ months in advance (on sale January). Bring: goggles (mandatory—tomato acid burns eyes), old clothes, closed-toe shoes (no sandals), waterproof camera. DON'T: bring glass bottles, tear t-shirts, throw tomatoes before canon signal
