Spain's most famous romeria (pilgrimage). Brotherhoods (hermandades) from across Andalusia and beyond walk, ride horses, or travel in decorated ox-drawn carts for days to reach Ermita del Rocío. El Camino (The Path)—100+ hermandades each have specific routes taking 3-10 days depending on origin. "El Saltito" (The Little Jump)—on Saturday night before Pentecost Sunday, hermandad from Almonte jumps over fence into hermitage courtyard to deliver standard. "La Romería" proper on Pentecost Sunday (May 16, 2027)—Blanca Paloma (White Dove) Virgin statue brought from hermitage and carried through Almonte streets. Doñana National Park setting is ecologically sensitive—access restricted during romeria; book accommodation in Almonte 6+ months in advance, or stay in Seville/Huelva and drive (parking at Cuesta del Río, 3 km walk to hermitage). Pro tips: bring sunscreen, hat, water, and sturdy shoes (trail walking and sand dunes). Also: "Fiesta del Rocío Chico" (Little Rocío) on August weekend (for locals, less crowded)
