Scandinavian-style Christmas festival in Catalan beach town (Salou has large Norwegian/Swedish/British expat community due to tourism industry). Traditional Swedish Julbord (smörgåsbord buffet with meatballs, sill (pickled herring), gravad lax, Jansson's frestelse potato casserole), Norwegian lutefisk (lye-cured dried cod, gelatinous texture, acquired taste—more for nostalgia than flavor, served with bacon and mushy peas), Danish risalamande rice pudding with almond (whoever gets whole almond wins marzipan pig). Not a Spanish tradition—exported festival for tourists but still happens annually
